The Children’s Internet Protection Act requires all schools
receiving certain federal funds to install and use blocking software to prevent
students viewing material considered “harmful to minors.” I believe that the school
should block access to certain websites because some of the material may be
harmful to minors and it helps keep the students on task.
The reason
I believe the school should block access to certain websites because some of
the material is harmful to minors. Websites like Youtube have good tutorials
but can also have some explicit material. Another reason the school should
block access to certain websites is because it helps keep the students on task.
If certain websites weren’t blocked than more students would get distracted and
not do their work.
Some
citizens may say that schools should not install and use blocking software to
prevent students viewing material because the websites that get blocked have
the best tutorial videos. However, there are other websites that do have good
tutorials and don’t have the harmful material to minors.
